At one point this was a fantasy. No one really paid attention to the idea of Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor boxing. That fantasy then became a whisper, which lead the fight being spoken into existence. Now we are all on the road to MayMac on August 26th .

Two heavy trash talkers couldn’t be contained to just one press conference like most fights. This is a mega cash grab that needs to be milked for all the entertainment it can possibly give. Hence the MayMac World Press Tour, which began in Los Angeles on Tuesday. If people are still on the fence about ordering or attending this fight, this press tour will decide it. This is meant to talk people into the building and PPV buys. It will do its job.

The trash talk has been plentiful. From McGregor talking about Mayweather’s, “small head compared to his big fist”, to Mayweather calling McGregor, “Mr. Tapout” who, “likes to quit.” This is just the tip of the iceberg of what’s been said. This is good old fashioned boxing promotion at its best.

When this fight materialized, I knew the press conference and the hype leading up to the fight was going to be something else. This alone would get more people interested in the fight and make it a mega money making endeavor. If you’ve seen the press conferences on tour so far, all signs point to yes on that becoming true.

So, enjoy the media circus for the entertainment it’s providing and get ready for what should be a better than expected fight between these two. Because at the end of the day, these are two of combat sports’ greatest athletes.
