NFL: Week 6 Packers vs. Cardinals: The Fallout

Packers WR Romeo Doubs dives for the first of his two touchdown receptions Sunday afternoon against the Arizona Cardinals.

The Green Bay Packers easily dispatched the Arizona Cardinals, 34-13, Sunday afternoon at Lambeau Field. It’s really easy to heap praise upon this squad after a game like this, but, there’s always room for improvement.

The Good

Remember last season, when cornerback Jaire Alexander was suspended by the club for “conduct detrimental to the team?” Do you remember how it’s been going for him since that suspension? It appears the same thing is on the horizon for wide receiver Romeo Doubs.

After his suspension last week, and an admission he wishes he “would’ve handled things differently,” Doubs had his best game of the season, hauling in 2 acrobatic touchdown catches. After the first, teammates rushed over to embrace him. This team obviously cares for Romeo and are fully supportive of him. Good to see.

The Bad

Brayden Narveson’s seat is (or should be) engulfed in flames. The rookie missed a 44-yard field goal, his fifth miss of the season and his fourth from 40-49 yards. The Packers defense was able to force a turnover on Arizona’s next possession after his miss, but it doesn’t absolve him of yet another miss, as I mentioned on X:

Loyalty is a double-edged sword. It can be rewarded with desired results or, it can cost you big. Matt LaFleur is at the same crossroads he was with Anders Carlson last season. His loyalty to him cost the Packers big in postseason. Six games in and Narveson has had a miss in four of them. LaFleur needs to be the head coach and make a (not so difficult) decision.

A much more difficult test comes to Lambeau next week in the form of the 5-1 Houston Texans. Packers need to heed the lessons learned in Week 6 and apply them to come out with a victory in Week 7.
